We are seeking a Computer Scientist to join the quantitative equities and solutions “Quest” team, based in Geneva. The team comprises 20 professionals who manage both long-only and long-short strategies – including a hedge fund – across equities, fixed income and multi-asset portfolios. Drawing on a diverse range of expertise, including quantitative and fundamental analysis, machine learning and computer science, the team aims to deliver attractive, risk-adjusted returns to clients in an efficient manner.
Within the Tech & Data Science entity of Quest, you will operate within a fully integrated environment, with your work directly influencing market activities and portfolio rebalancing. You will be responsible for building data pipelines to process both structured and unstructured raw data, transforming these into time series and actionable indicators for financial and quantitative analysts. In line with our philosophy of “You build it, you run it”, you will take ownership of the solutions you develop, supporting the team throughout the process.
Your role
- Develop and maintain analytical software tools for quantitative finance applications.
- Build and optimise data pipelines for the acquisition, cleaning and processing of financial data.
- Collaborate with quantitative researchers to implement models in production.
- Enhance the performance, reliability and scalability of research and trading systems.
- Promote best practices in software engineering, including testing, documentation and code quality.
Your profile
- University degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification, specialised in Technology.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in technology, with financial services experience considered a plus.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Proficiency in at least one statically typed language (e.g. C++, Java, or C#).
- Experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments.
- Solid understanding of software engineering best practices.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git).
- Ability to design and build robust data pipelines.
- Knowledge of database systems (SQL and NoSQL).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with automated testing and continuous integration.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (desirable but not essential).
