Chief Enterprise Architect
Job Description
The Chief Enterprise Architect translates SCOR’s Technology, Data & AI Strategy into a clear, enforceable and governable enterprise architecture, balancing mission-critical legacy platforms, core systems and modern digital, data and AI-native capabilities. At the same time, he/she is preserving robustness, regulatory compliance, operational resilience and long-term optionality.
Responsibilities
The Chief Enterprise Architect leads a team of domain and transversal architects who
execute the enterprise vision across business areas and platforms. This team translates the
Group architecture blueprint into domain-level evolution roadmaps, ensuring coherence and consistency at scale.
This is a top-tier strategic technology leadership role, combining transformative ambition
with deep engineering credibility, strong executive influence, and a pragmatic
understanding of complex, regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Enterprise Architecture Leadership & Partnership
• Drive the architectural transformation of the landscape aligned with SCOR’s
strategic priorities.
• Act as a peer and trusted advisor to BU/Group Engineering Leads and Data & AI
Chiefs, shaping architectural choices in support of business outcomes.
• Ensure tight alignment between engineering roadmaps, data & AI platforms, and
enterprise architecture principles.
• Influence senior stakeholders across Technology, Finance, Risk and Operations with
clear architectural direction and trade-off analysis.
• Provide a clear, multi-year enterprise architecture roadmap
Internal. Access limited to SCOR users, authorized trusted partners and clients.
2. Modernize and Simplify the Core Landscape
• Lead pragmatic modernization of SCOR’s critical core platforms, including its
integral pricing, administration and sub-ledger backbone.
• Leverage state-of-the-art agentic frameworks as an accelerator of legacy and core
platform modernization.
• Use agent-based orchestration to simplify integration, reduce structural
complexity and rationalize legacy dependencies.
• Explore and institutionalize new architecture patterns enabled by AI agents.
• Balance modernization ambition with operational resilience, evolving the
landscape in a structured, risk-aware manner.
• Position SCOR as an intelligent adopter of next-generation enterprise architecture
approaches
3. AI-Enabled & Data-Centric Enterprise Architecture
• Seamlessly integrate the IT landscape with a unified enterprise “single version of
truth,” embedding Data & AI platforms across both structured and unstructured
data domains.
• Evolve core IT systems into modern, AI-powered workbenches built on this
shared data foundation, enabling augmented workflows, intelligent decision-
making and automation across core value chains.
• Promote agent-based architectures to orchestrate processes and reduce structural
complexity across the landscape.
• Establish consistent enterprise data models across underwriting, risk and finance,
ensuring interoperability and semantic alignment.
• Strengthen governance, lineage, transparency and regulatory robustness, including
architectural support for reporting (incl. IFRS17) and broader regulatory
requirements.
4. Governance, Authority & Architectural Standards
• Chair and lead key Architecture and Technology, Data & AI governance forums.
• Hold decision rights to approve, arbitrate or block major architectural evolutions
and platform choices impacting the Group landscape.
• Ensure all significant architectural changes are deliberately designed, formally
governed and clearly communicated.
• Define and enforce enterprise-wide architecture principles, standards, reference
models and guardrails.
• Drive convergence, simplification and reuse across Business Units and Core,
enabling coherence while allowing disciplined flexibility where justified by business
value.
Qualifications
Required experience & competencies
• 15+ years in senior technology and enterprise architecture roles with ownership of
complex, enterprise-wide scope.
• Proven leadership of large-scale modernization programs in regulated financial
services environments; reinsurance highly valued.
• Demonstrated integration of Data & AI platforms into mission-critical landscapes.
• Strongly preferred: Experience with Azure cloud architectures, SAP, Databricks,
Palantir or comparable enterprise data/AI platforms.
• Experience operating within formal governance frameworks with architectural
decision authority.
Architectural & Technical Capability
• Mastery of enterprise architecture across business, application, data and technology
domains.
• Strong experience modernizing legacy core systems using pragmatic, risk-aware
approaches.
• Fluency in cloud-aligned, API-driven and event-based architectures, including AI-
native and agent-based patterns.
• Ability to design consistent enterprise data models and a “single version of truth”
(domain-driven / data mesh data architectures).
• Balanced approach to innovation, resilience, security and regulatory compliance.
Leadership & Personal Profile
• Engineering-rooted credibility with strong executive influence.
• Systems thinker able to zoom out strategically and dive deep technically.
• Bridge-builder across legacy and AI-native worlds, and across Technology, Data and
AI domains.
• Pragmatic transformation leader with a track record of reducing structural
complexity at scale.
