Controls Engineer HVAC (80-100%)
As a Control Engineer, you are responsible for the design and specification of control concepts and control algorithms for embedded products and systems. Your primary focus is on control-theoretic correctness, robustness, performance and documentation, providing a solid and reusable technical basis for implementation. You derive application-oriented control solutions based on deep mathematical understanding of the plant and system behavior.
- Develop application models with a clear mathematical understanding of system dynamics.
- Design and justify suitable controller structures, including controller structures (e.g. I, PI, feedforward components, state-space controllers (e.g. LQR); dimensions (e.g. filters, deadbands, predictors); cycle times and sampling strategies based on system behavior and constraints.
- Support the derivation and clarification of control-relevant performance requirements (e.g. dynamics, stability margins)
- Translate system and application requirements into control design targets.
- Create structured design documentation for application model assumptions, mathematical formulations, control architecture and rational, parametrization, etc.
- Provide MATLAB Simulation models for integration with plant models for concept and design validation.
- Support software implementation during transition by answering control-related questions and reviewing implementation concepts.
- Close collaboration with system architects, development engineers and software application implementation.
- University degree (ETH/Uni/FH) in Control Engineering, Cybernetics, Mechatronics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
- Strong proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink (incl. Simscape) for system modeling, simulation, and analysis.
- Solid understanding of control systems, dynamic systems, and signal processing as well as experience with model-based design (MBD) and simulation workflows (MIL, SIL, HIL).
- Familiarity with embedded systems and real-time simulation environments.
- Knowledge of code generation tools (e.g., Simulink Coder, Embedded Coder) is a plus.
- Skilled in interpreting system specifications and translating them into simulation models.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. You are an effective communicator and collaborator across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
