Job Description
Principal Electronics System/HW Engineer for GNSS Receivers Key responsibilities System architecture & design: Defining, designing, and integrating the system-level architecture of low-power GNSS modules, EVK and boards, including u-blox GNSS receiver chips, RF circuitry, oscillators, power supply and memory. Hardware development: Leading schematic design and guiding PCB layout for high-density or multi-layer boards. Focus is on high-volume products that meet the targeted product requirements such as power consumption, RF performance or size, and are cost optimized. Testing & validation: Performing and managing EVT (Engineering Validation Testing), DVT (Design Validation Testing), and PVT (Production Validation Testing), including EMI/EMC compliance. GNSS signal analysis, and laboratory debugging using spectrum analyzers / signal generators. Capability to deep dive to analyze HW issues related to u-blox programs and bring them to the attention of the stakeholders in a timely manner. Cross-functional collaboration: Working with teams responsible for IC development and firmware as well as product managers and application engineers to ensure system integration and the fulfillment of customer expectations. Manufacturing support: Supporting DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFT (Design for Testing) to transition designs to production. Collaboration with production test development on the definition of production test concepts for GNSS receiver modules and evaluation kits. Mentorship: Coaching junior/mid-level engineers and conducting design reviews showing technical leadership and contributing continuously to the HW capabilities within the team. Continuous improvement: Active role in improving hardware-related development processes and procedures with a clear focus on becoming more effective and consistently achieving a high quality of deliveries. This role reports to the head of the Business Unit.
Required skills and qualifications
Education: Masters degree in electronics engineering or equivalent area. Experience: 15+ years of experience in electronics design, specifically with GNSS receivers or low-power embedded systems. Technical skills: Proficiency with an electronic design automation (EDA) tool for printed circuit board (PCB) design such as Altium or Cadence; simulation tools; familiarity with GNSS protocols and signal processing. Quality mindset: Attention to detail, proactive communication of risks and issues together with clear proposals for improvements. Ownership is a key leadership behavior required.
