The (Senior) R&D Engineer collaborates closely with the Project Managers or multidisciplinary teams by supporting with technical knowledge and competencies.
The position has a strong bias towards laboratory testing, comprising the adaptation of test methods and equipment to a given project scope, testing of prototypes concurrently with product design iterations, execution of formal design verification campaigns and participating in design and planning meetings frequently involving other Dentsply Sirona R&D sites in the US and Germany.
Responsabilities:
- Participates in the development of new endodontic obturation materials in conformance with applicable international standards as well as with the Dentsply Sirona new product development procedure.
- Participates to R&D Projects for New Product Development, Core Business Engineering and QA/RA projects for the Endodontics Solutions BU in collaboration with key project stakeholders.
- Responsible for the development of new medical devices in conformance with applicable international standards as well as with the Dentsply Sirona new product development procedure.
- Provides scientific and technical expertise related to chemistry/material science for development projects in a cross functional setting.
- Contributes to the definition of requirements for test systems and alignment in a cross functional environment.
- Defines and executes prototype and pre-production testing from protocol to test report for irrigation / obturation materials.
- Supports laboratory team by providing chemical and/or material science expertise for testing methods and equipment.
- Proposes and implement design solutions and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Creates test plans for specific product groups.
- Documents test methods as well as providing test protocols and reports (in English language)
- Submits new and revised controlled Technical Documents into the company wide Electronic Document Management system.
- Contributes to Design FMEAs and identification of risk mitigations.
- Adheres to a multitude of operating procedures and work instructions typical for the highly regulated medical device industry.
- Depending on the needs of the company, the employee may be entrusted with and asked to perform other tasks related to his/her competence.
Profile Requested :
- MSc or PhD in Material Science, Chemistry, or similar
- Some experience in an engineering environment for medical device industry preferred.
- Understanding of medical device design control and international standards.
- Hands-on work in a lab environment in compliance with local Environment, Health and Safety standards
- Analytical thinking and creative solving of technical problems
- Handling multiple tasks in parallel and task prioritization
- Attention to details in the highly regulated medical device industry
- Experience in the highly regulated medical device industry
- Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices, maintain accurate documentation & related record retention documentation.
- Daily collaboration with project management and laboratory personnel in an amicable work environment
- Pack MS Office
- English: native or C1 / French: native or B2
