As an Instrumentation Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, improvement and lifecycle support of gas turbine instrumentation. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure robust, reliable and high‑performance instrumentation solutions.
Your tasks
- Develop new and improve existing gas turbine instrumentation.
- Analyze new engine requirements, project tenders, and customer contracts; consolidate instrumentation needs.
- Drive the development of new instrumentation, from specification and integration design through first assembly, implementation, commissioning, testing, monitoring and validation.
- Oversee the complete measurement chain and ensure correct alignment of instrumentation with related system interfaces.
- Advise mechanical designers in creating and updating the instrumentation documentation and the integration into the product structure.
- Provide product support and act as the primary contact for instrumentation‑related issues from field service, new units, suppliers, manufacturing, quality assurance and power plant erection or commissioning.
- Perform root‑cause analysis and technical problem solving, including analysis of instrumentation signals and machine operational data.
Your profile
- University degree in mechanical engineering, preferably with a focus on aerospace, turbomachinery, mechatronics, process technology or energy technology.
- Ability to work in distributed, multidisciplinary and multicultural teams with complex technical and organizational interfaces.
- Know‑how in sensor-engine integration design and measurement‑chain engineering for harsh environments.
- Preferably, know-how in dynamic measurement chains for vibration and acoustics.
- Preferably, practical experience in power plants, gas turbine or aero‑engine applications.
- Knowledge of 3D CAD tools; experience with Siemens NX® is an advantage.
- Knowledge of PLM systems; experience with Siemens Teamcenter® is an advantage.
- Experience in signal and data analysis.Skills in root‑cause analysis and structured problem‑solving methods.
- Willingness to travel (globally) up to 30%, to power plants, construction sites, the factory in Genoa (Italy) or suppliers, approximately once per month in average, occasionally for up to two weeks.
- Excellent command of English; German is an advantage; knowledge of Italian is a plus.
