Job Description

Role purpose:

We are currently looking for a 6-months student intern in our Process Technology department in Münchwilen for the second half of 2026. The role will be focused on development and optimization of synthetic methods and concepts for the manufacture of intermediates and active ingredients. Activities also include the investigation and analysis of challenging chemical reactions to support understanding, scale-up and process operations. You will be given the opportunity to develop new skills while working at the cutting edge of science, technology and innovation.

Accountabilities:

• Efficiently concieving, planning, prioritizing and executing technical and research projects
• Seeking, retrieving and analyzing critical information
• Maintaining and developing state-of-the-art knowledge in chemistry and associated technologies
• Applying knowledge creatively to solve problems
• Fostering a culture of creativity and innovation
• Ensuring compliance of HSE (Health, safety and environment) to Syngenta standards
• Communicating inspirationally and regularly on research activities

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in organic chemistry
• Strong background in the field of catalysis, synthetic organic chemistry and laboratory techniques including extensive practical work experience in a chemistry research lab
• Courage to overcome challenges
• Interest to work in a process development environment and to learn new technics and ways of working.
• Ability to work independently (and interact) while interacting in multidisciplinary teams
• Proven organizational and social skills
• General Analytical Knowledge - Application of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, Infrared Spectroscopy, Liquid Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry
• Fluency in English language (written and spoken)
• Good knowledge of German and French language is valued
