About H55
As the technological spin-off of Solar Impulse, the first electric airplane to fly around the world, the mission of H55 is to make aviation clean, safe, and affordable. H55 exists to accelerate this transition by building the certification-grade energy platform that electric aviation needs to scale, delivering energy storage systems that are predictable, provably safe, and trusted by authorities, insurers, and OEMs. Because in aviation, innovation only matters when it can fly.
At H55, you will work with a forward-looking team shaping the future of air transportation. Our team brings together experienced engineers, entrepreneurs, and industry experts who combine creativity, innovation, and strong technical expertise.
We believe that diverse perspectives lead to better engineering and stronger teams, and we are committed to building an inclusive workplace.
Your Role
As Chief of Independent Monitoring (CIM), reporting directly to the Head of Design Organization (HDO), you will ensure the continued compliance, effectiveness, and integrity of H55’s Design Organization.
You will operate independently from design execution teams, with the authority to assess compliance, identify risks, and drive corrective actions, ensuring that our Design Organization meets the highest regulatory and safety standards.
Your role is central to maintaining certification readiness and supporting the development of safe, certifiable electric propulsion and energy storage systems.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure, through independent monitoring, that the Design Management System remains compliant with documented processes and EASA Part 21 Subpart J
- Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the Design Organization
- Plan and perform internal audits (H55 DO) and external audits (design suppliers)
- Monitor findings and drive their closure through corrective actions and root cause analysis, ensuring continuous improvement
- Support process reviews to ensure compliance and consistency with applicable regulations and guidance material
- Define and manage the audit plan and coordinate with the Agency on findings impacting product safety
- Support and coordinate audits conducted by the Agency, including follow-up and closure of findings
- Ensure independence of the monitoring function from design and airworthiness activities
- Lead and develop the quality team, including Design Quality Assurance Engineers and auditors
- Define and monitor Key Performance Indicators related to compliance and quality
Your Profile
- University degree in engineering or a related field
- Typically 8+ years of experience within the aviation industry
- In-depth knowledge of EASA Part 21, particularly Subpart J, and Independent Monitoring activities
- Proven experience in quality assurance and auditing within aviation environments (DOA, POA, MOA), typically 5+ years
- Strong leadership and coordination skills, with the ability to work independently and interface effectively with authorities and suppliers
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluent in English (French is a plus)
What We Offer
- The opportunity to work on cutting-edge electric aviation technology with real-world impact
- A collaborative, international, and purpose-driven team
- Opportunities to grow into leadership roles
- A flexible and supportive work environment
- An exceptional work location in Sion, Valais, in the heart of the Swiss Alps
You will have a direct impact on how we design, certify, and deliver our products, working closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-evolving environment.
We are building a team where diverse perspectives are essential to delivering safe, certifiable systems. If this role excites you but you don’t tick every box, we encourage you to apply.
