The International Olympic Committee is the guardian of the Olympic Games and the leader of the Olympic Movement.
A truly global organisation, it acts as a catalyst for collaboration between all Olympic stakeholders, including the athletes, the National Olympic Committees, the International Federations, Organising Committees for the Olympic Games, the Worldwide Olympic Partners and Olympic broadcast partners. It also collaborates with public and private authorities including the United Nations and other international organisations.
About the role:
As the Sustainability and Legacy Communications Trainee you will be supporting the implementation of the IOC Sustainability & Legacy communications strategies, and related communications projects.
Your responsibilities:
Sustainability and legacy communications
- Helps create the editorial calendar for key sustainability and legacy projects and conference, including Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, LA28, Olympic anniversaries, the IOC Climate Action Awards 2025, UN Climate summit (COP30);
- Supports the creation of web and digital content around Milano Cortina 2026 , LA28, Olympic anniversaries, and the IOC’s sustainability and legacy work by performing research, drafting web stories, selecting relevant images etc.;
- Supports the delivery of the Climate Action Awards 2025 communications campaign, including by coordinating the relevant teams, drafting web and social media content, measuring and analysing impact;
- Creates engaging social media posts to support the delivery of the IOC sustainability and legacy communications strategy;
- Coordinates relevant teams internally (sustainability, legacy, translation, web, social media etc), to ensure timely publications of sustainability and legacy content across IOC channels;
- Coordinates relationship with the external content distribution service (3BL); supports management of the sustainability communications agency.
Our requirements
- University degree in Science Communications or a similar field at the intersection of science and communications;
- Minimum one year’s experience in communications or sustainability-related role;
- Native-level knowledge of English; good command of French is a plus;
- Excellent research, writing and editing skills in English;
- Excellent knowledge of social media and digital;
- Knowledge of and enthusiasm for innovative communication strategies, with a strong emphasis on engaging younger audiences;
- Familiarity with AI tools and the ability to effectively apply them in a professional setting;
- Excellent knowledge of office automation tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and corporate tools (SharePoint, Outlook).
- Solid knowledge and understanding of sustainability;
- Interest and willingness to keep abreast of latest developments in the field of sustainability;
- Excellent ability to turn technical, scientific information into compelling and accessible content;
- Able to communicate clearly and confidently, present ideas effectively and engage stakeholders through articulate verbal communication;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Excellent sense of planning and organisation;
- Interest in sport, culture and Olympism.
