Presentation
The School of Criminal Justice of the Faculty of Law, Criminal Justice and Public Administration of the University of Lausanne is seeking a PhD researcher (graduate teaching assistant) in the area of microtraces and more specifically textile fibres.
The priority area of research concerns the modelling of the number of fibres transferred during contact and/or having persisted after a certain time or activity of the recipient textile. In this context, a better understanding of the fundamental mechanisms involved is important, particularly as a function of the surface roughness of the textiles involved. This research will be inspired by the field of materials science and tribology in particular. The advantage of these fundamental sciences is that they offer the possibility of modelling these phenomena, which can be applied in forensic science.
Other research directions may also include, but are not limited to, innovative subjects targeting the evaluation of micro-traces (textile fibres and paints) within a logical framework and on the fundamental parameters necessary for their interpretation (occurrence, background noise, transfer and persistence).
Finally, other, more open projects are also possible, in innovative directions in the field of analytical chemistry (spectroscopy, separation methods, etc.), depending on the interest of the candidates and the directions that will be proposed
