Syndicat Intercommunal Châtellenie de Thielle Epuration - Déchetterie

Studies into water treatment for the Châtellenie de Thielle Inter-municipal Association began as early as 1963. Following these studies, on 14 March 1969 the Inter-municipal Council adopted the Association’s general regulations and, in 1971, approved a grant of 17 million francs for the construction of the treatment works. On 2 November 1974, the facilities of the Châtellenie de Thielle Inter-municipal Water Treatment Authority were officially opened. The catchment area currently covers the municipalities of Hauterive, St-Blaise, La Tène, Cornaux, Cressier, Enges, Gals and Gampelen. In 2002, the association inaugurated the upgraded wastewater treatment plant, which had been refurbished to meet new requirements. In 2004, the association approved funding to build a recycling centre on the site of the former Cornaux wastewater treatment plant. The Entre-deux-Lacs inter-municipal recycling centre opened its doors on 3 January 2007. It serves a catchment area comprising eight municipalities in the canton of Neuchâtel (Cornaux, Cressier, Enges, Hauterive, La Tène, Le Landeron, Lignières, Saint-Blaise) and three in the canton of Bern (Gampelen, Ins and Müntschemier), with a total population of over 20,000.
