As an R&D Associate Electrical Engineer, you will utilize your extensive skills and technical expertise to develop, enhance and validate analog and digital circuits, in order to satisfy the mission critical power protection product market specification.Reporting to R&D Hardware Chapter Lead, based in Quartino Switzerland, you will contribute significantly to initiatives related to ABB’s Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS) products.

Your responsibilities

• Develop and implement analog and digital circuits from initial concept to validation in representative tests, including:
• Conducting technology research and validating its applicability.
• Creating schematics and defining constraints for PCB layout.
• Specifying verification criteria and executing verification activities through simulation and prototype testing.
• Documenting and handing over developed technologies, providing implementation support in product development.
• Identifying and selecting PCB components for new designs or alternative solutions.
• Stay informed about state-of-the-art technology and ABB products, understanding technical drivers for R&D projects within the field.
• Recognize and comprehend factors contributing to customer value in R&D projects and organizational project portfolio, aiming to enhance operations and elevate customer satisfaction based on incoming requests.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for issues uncovered during R&D and Qualification testing, collaborating with Development, Quality, and Test Engineering Teams.

Your background

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in in Electrical Engineering, as well as minimum of 2 years of working experience in electrical engineering.
• Knowledge in designing digital and analog electronic circuits, circuit diagrams, and simulation tools.
• Experience in microelectronic component selection.
• Knowledge of PCB design tools, such as Altium, Allegro, etc.
• Knowledge of ECN’s (Engineering Change Notifications), BOM’s (Bill of Materials), and documentation systems.
• Experience with failure investigations and Root Cause & Corrective Action Analysis (RCCA).
• Collaborative team player.
• Knowledge and experience with Agile methodology is a plus.
• Fluent in English, spoken and written.
