Senior Cloud Engineer
for its global Pharma Division Headquarter based in Allschwil- Basel.
Primary Job Function:
The central Advanced Analytics team at the Abbott Established Pharma Division’s (EPD) headquarters in Basel helps define and lead the transformation towards becoming a global, data-driven company with the help of data and advanced technologies (e.g., Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Generative AI, Computer Vision). To us, Advanced Analytics is an important lever to reach our business targets, now and in the future; It helps differentiate ourselves from our competition and ensure sustainable revenue growth at optimal margins. Hence the central AA team is an integral part of the Strategy Management Office at EPD that has a very close link and regular interactions with the EPD Senior Leadership Team.
With the above requirements in mind, EPD is looking to fill a role of a Senior Cloud Engineer, reporting to the Manager AA Cloud. He/she will be responsible for developing, running and continuously refining an easy-to-use, modern and lean/cost-effective cloud platform as well as helping defining the vision and strategic roadmap for Advanced Analytics in Abbott EPD
Core Job Responsibilities:
Define and build company-wide frameworks and libraries that will enable faster, better, and more informed decision-making within the business and help create business value out of data & analytics.
Plan and deliver secure, good-practice data integration strategies and approaches
Help ensure data availability and accessibility for prioritized Advanced Analytics scope as well as stable, scalable, and modular data science pipelines from data exploration, training, development, and deployment
Work with key stakeholders within the company to help model their data landscape, obtain data extracts, and define secure data exchange approaches
Acquire, ingest, and process data from multiple sources and systems into our cloud platform (AWS). Create and manage data environments in the Cloud.
Ensure compliant handling and management of data, including access strategies.
Share responsibility for business impact and timely delivery of prioritized Advanced Analytics solutions in collaboration with business owners, subject matter experts, data scientists, and AA product owners
Ability to define and build smart automation based on cloud technologies, based on business priorities and needs.
Acts as main interface and key collaboration partner with other data and cloud-related activities, e.g., data lake and data management initiatives within IT.
Help design and implement scalable frameworks and infrastructure to support the development and deployment of GenAI applications in collaboration with the MLOps team to reduce time-to-market and promote innovation in AI-Driven solutions.
Collaborate closely with the Data Science team and AI Engineers to help map data fields to hypotheses and curate, wrangle and prepare data for their advanced analytics models as well as understand their platform needs and lead the development of solutions that support their work.
Minimum Education:
Master in relevant field (e.g., computer science, electrical engineering)
Minimum Experience/Training Required:
At least 6-8 years of relevant working experience, ideally in pharma environment
Proven ability to work across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, extracting information and identifying linkages across disparate data sets
High proficiency in at least one programming language – Javascript, Python, Scala or Java.
Strong experience in multiple database technologies such as: Distributed Processing (Spark, Hadoop, EMR) Traditional RDBMS (MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) MPP (AWS Redshift, Teradata) NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Cassandra, Neo4J, Titan)
Strong understanding of Information Security principles to ensure compliant handling and management of data
Strong experience and interest in Cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and all its services and ecosystem
Strong experience in traditional data warehousing / ETL tools
Proficiency in architecting, building and maintaining cost-efficient and scalable cloud environments
Exposure with AI frameworks and proven exposure on deploying these frameworks at scale
Ability to understand business and create cloud-bases solutions to fill those objectives
Result-driven, be an analytical and creative thinker
Ability to work with cross-functional teams and bring business and data science closer together - consultancy experience a plus
Fluency in English a must, additional languages a plus
