Financial Account Manager, Captive Management (Guernsey)  

 

Aon Guernsey is looking to recruit a Financial Accounts Manager to work as part of dedicated team who are responsible for the day-to-day management of a wide variety of captive insurance companies and protected cell companies all with unique requirements. The successful candidate will oversee the production of accurate and timely financial reporting, solvency calculations and board meeting attendance and presentation.

 

This role will provide the candidate with an exciting opportunity to be exposed to all aspects involved in the management of insurance entities.

What the day will look like

  • Responsible for the delivery of excellent client service and responsive to client queries and issues. First point of contact for clients in connection to accounting, investment and company secretarial matters.
  • Liaising with clients to understand their reporting requirements and ensuring that all deadlines are met across the team.
  • Interaction with various people in a professional manner. Relationships to be developed and maintained with clients, board members, auditors, banks, investment advisors, insurance, or reinsurance companies and also the GFSC and any other regulatory authorities.
  • Review and production of management accounts, trial balances, statutory accounts, and all other reporting requirements. Aid account preparers in a timely manner to ensure no errors in the final account submission.
  • Responsibility for liaising with the auditors and the entire year-end audit process from planning to sign off.
  • Responsible for the preparation of accurate board papers and meeting minutes to a high standard within deadlines required. Presentation of the accounting, investment, company secretarial and any other items at Board Meetings.
  • Verification of payments and receipts. Monitoring of cash balances, fixed deposits, and Letter of Credit levels. Review of monthly bank reconciliations.  Ensuring that bank mandates, investment guidelines and board requirements are adhered to.
  • Responsibility for all regulatory matters, corresponding with the GFSC and completing annual insurance returns within set deadlines.
  • Maintenance of statutory records.
  • Ensuring self and team adhere to the procedures manual and follow all controls applicable to job roles.

 

Skills and experience that will lead to success.

 

  • Qualified accountant – essential
  • Comprehensive working and technical knowledge of accountancy – essential
  • Experience of insurance accounting - desirable
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry - products, regulations, and developments.
  • Skills in IT software and experience posting to a general ledger system.
  • A high degree of confidentiality – desirable
  • A team player with a positive working attitude, enthusiasm, and adaptability to change.
