Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focused on serving patients with severe and ultra-rare disorders through the innovation, development and commercialization of life-transforming therapeutic products. Alexion is the global leader in complement inhibition, and has developed and markets Soliris® (eculizumab) as a treatment for patients with PNH, aHUS (and gMG), debilitating, ultra-rare and life-threatening disorders caused by chronic uncontrolled complement activation. Soliris is currently approved in more than 40 countries for the treatment of PNH, and in the United States and European Union for the treatment of aHUS. Alexion has also received approval from the EMEA for two further products, Strensiq (asfotase alfa) for treatment of paediatric-onset hypophosphatasia  and Kanuma (sebelipase alfa) for the treatment of lysosomal acid lipase deficiency. Alexion is evaluating other potential indications for Soliris and is pursuing development of other innovative biotechnology product candidates in early stages of development. Position Summary

Alexion has grown organically and now has operations in more than 40 countries.  Alexion is strengthening its’ commercial team to manage sustained growth of the core indications and expansion into new therapy areas. This position will report into the Regional Leader International Commercial Operations and Insights Lead.

This is what you will do:

This individual will be a highly visible contributor with an interface to all levels of Alexion leadership. They will partner with the Global Disease Leads, Commercial Leads and regional functional leads, to proactively identify opportunities and to enable better decision making. They will also support TA teams, bringing advanced analytics to customer engagements and brand strategies, connecting with local markets for further insights. It is also expected that the individual will work cross-functionally with the Global Commercial teams to get the region in alignment on strategies and frameworks. The individual must a strong collaborator, capable of contributing innovative thoughts and ideas to create meaningful value for the function and for the organization. 

This individual will be a highly visible contributor within their assigned therapeutic area and have an interface to all levels of Alexion leadership.

At an overall level, the individual is responsible for effectively generating and leveraging data, information and knowledge to uncover insights to drive Commercial strategies/tactics for the therapeutic area international business.

This individual will partner with the TA leads, Disease Leads and IMPACT+ Leads  to proactively identify business opportunities and to enable better decision making at Alexion. This should be achieved by a deep understanding of the disease areas and the business in the different markets. They will also support the assigned TA to analyze customer engagements, brand strategies and execution, by connecting with local markets and external vendors for further insights.

It is also expected that this individual will work cross-functionally with the Global Commercial teams to get the region in alignment with Global Commercial Operations strategies and frameworks. The individual must be confident and be an exceptionally strong collaborator, capable of contributing with innovative thoughts and ideas that create meaningful value for the TA and for Alexion. 

You will be responsible for:

  • Proactively identifying opportunities/challenges leveraging data and business context to enable better decision making within the assigned TA and, more broadly, at Alexion
  • Acting as a central point of expertise and drive collaboration with TA leadership, brand teams, sales/franchise leadership, Finance, Launch and Business Operations colleagues to provide advice on key strategic questions
  • Lead the TA section development of monthly business reviews
  • Supporting the TA leader to build the monthly and quarterly decks.
  • Leading the development and update of launch tracking dashboards.
  • Supporting the TA forecasting process, including patient /opportunity funnels, business assumptions and regional views.
  • Proactively tracking and synthesizing the competitive environment, analyzing threats and opportunities, developing market models, and together with finance forecasting scenarios with business impact
  • Define governance and processes to gather and distribute insights across the region.
  • Collaborating with leadership and within Commercial Operations to support Commercial strategies and tactics using data and derived insights, which contribute directly to the growth and optimization of Alexion’s business
  • Drive market research on International level for respective TA: plan, budget, project management and report back
  • Supporting the assessment of Commercial strategies and tactics to quantify ROI together with finance business partners and to make recommendations to optimize the use of existing/future resources
  • Partnering with Global Market Research colleagues and providing analytical support to assess programs and tools
  • Evolving analytical tools and methods
  • Responsively providing high quality solutions and answers to ad-hoc analytic requests

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Advanced knowledge and application of analytics, modeling, and valuation concepts (NPV, ROI, IRR) in the biopharmaceutical industry
  • Exceptional communication and creative problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of organizational dynamics and ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Confidence and ability to present complex information concisely and effectively to all audiences, including leaders and groups 
  • Strong analytical and organization skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to anticipate future Commercial trends and to integrate that context into business practices
  • Desire and ability to learn/implement new tools and capabilities
  • Experience collaborating with technical analytical teams and individuals across geographies
  • Track record of effective functional and cross-functional collaboration
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter, able to work both independently and in a team environment

We would prefer for you to have:

  • 5+ years of experience in Business Analytics and/or Financial Analysis
  • MBA or advanced quantitative discipline degree preferred
  • Prior experience in rare disease, hematology, oncology
