The OISL PDA is part of the leadership team of the OISL team and the main responsibilities are:

  • Ownership of the DVa and responsible for a solution approval formalized in the Design Validation file, which is been established during the bid and shall be maintained during the execution of the development.In particular, the focus of the OISL PDA shall be on:

    • Technical risks and opportunities management and identification of the risk mitigation: maintain the overview, trends and provide alerts, contribute to the definition of the mitigation actions

    • Implementation and monitoring of the execution of the risk mitigation activities which are prioritized in agreement with the OISL Leadership team

    • Guarantee the adequacy of the solution to the customer requirements and the feasibility of the solution in terms of technology maturity, compatibility to cost and schedule needs

    • Ensure the execution of the appropriate TAS internal reviews, peer reviews to ensure the quality of the development activities and their robustness


The main responsibilities of the CTO are:

  • To be part of the Thales Alenia Space management team in Switzerland and to contribute to the management and strategy of the entity

  • To be in close contact and to collaborate with the different stakeholders in the Thales Alenia Space JV CTO organization

  • Identify the technological axes to be developed locally in alignment with the needs of the business lines for the future offering of the BLs. The identified technologies shall be introduced in the Strategic Business Plan and Multi Year Budget processes in terms prioritization of activities in alignment with competences and national ambitions, in terms of required budget capturing.

  • Contribute to definition of the implementation of the developments and monitor the implementation with the local discipline teams and project teams

  • Management the local elements of the product cartography and product policy processes in alignment with CTO team and with Competence Center team. Manage Product Line Strategic Reviews and Design Reviews processes including the definition of the point of time when shall be done, and in coordinating the preparation with support of the Thales Alenia Space in Switzerland team.

  • To identify in alignment with the line mangers the PDAs and to coordinate the PDA team activities by alignment of methodologies and by regular synchronization on the activities

  • Act as Project Design Authority in selected projects

  • To support project execution and customer interaction with the technical expertise which might be required

  • To be part of the Bid process, in person or in delegation to assigned PDAs, with supporting the identification of the baseline solution to be offered to the customer, to ensure the design validation (DVa) process execution and to review the bid data package for the adequacy of the technical solution, the identified technical risks and mitigation action and the related financial aspects, to support the identification of partnerships to fulfil the customer needs

  • To be the point of contact for the innovation cluster

  • To interact with academia, research organization, innovation “produced” to identify “technologies of the future” and to propose partnerships and collaborations

  • To be the PoC (Point of contact) for patents and IPR matters and for organization of related trainings


You are:

  • Curious, passionate, capable of “thinking out of the box”, team-player

  • Engineer or physicist with background in optics and electronics, understanding of software development and architecting is a further asset

  • 10 years of experiences of working for space industry in similar complex opto-electronics products

  • Experience in optical communication for space or ground application

  • Proven track records on complete development cycle: from specification to flight hardware delivery

  • Strong engineering feeling for identification of pitfalls

  • Pro-active in the identification of its duties and in the performance of the tasks

  • Ability in comfortably working with changing boundaries

  • Good communication internally as well as with customers and suppliers

  • Experience in moderation and steering of meetings

  • High flexibility

  • Methods for problem finding and identification

  • English fluently (working language). An asset knowledge of French and/or Italian.
