(Junior) Internal Auditor

Overview of Role

The successful candidate must be familiar with the legal and regulatory environment of financial institutions in Switzerland. Though not a must, a first experience in Internal or External Audit, Wealth Management or Private Banking would be considered a big advantage. The candidate must demonstrate a tangible interest for risk management, compliance and/or internal audit matters in the Banking industry and have a strong desire to develop their expertise of audit methodologies further. After a thorough introductory phase, the candidate will perform own audits under supervision of more Senior Internal Auditors.

The successful candidate must present well and have excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to influence a wide range of internal audiences including respective business, functional, or regional executive management partners. The candidate must be able to work independently and demonstrate the ability to collaborate with Senior Management and use sound judgement when required to escalate sensitive matters to the relevant Head of Audit.

Fluency in both written and spoken English is a requirement. A good command of German and/or French would be a definite plus.


  • Support more senior Internal Auditors in their daily work in an efficient and effective manner and in compliance with departmental standards
  • Build up knowledge in order to take on own internal audits
  • Highlight issues of concern covering a wide range of risks, including security, policies, operational practices, project management and controls
  • Identify solutions and recommendations to mitigate risks identified
  • Attend meetings to agree action on audit findings and recommendations
  • Draft concise audit issues and reports in English
  • Follow-up on audit issues and recommendations until their effective closure

Experience, Skills and Competencies Required

  • Tier 1 University degree holder (Bachelors or equivalent and above)
  • First experience in Wealth Management or Private Banking is considered a big advantage
  • Ability to build professional relationships that add value to internal clients and stakeholders
  • Thorough understanding of the banking business environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels
  • Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise work effectively and meet deadlines even under pressure
  • A pro-active approach to overcome setbacks and deliver results
  • A positive and flexible attitude with the ability to demonstrate initiative, attention to detail and reliability
  • Good team working skills
