Facility Management Team Leader 80-100%

The Institute of Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel (IOB) seeks a qualified and highly motivated Facility Management Team Leader (80%-100%) to support its operations. The successful candidate will lead a team to support our infrastructure, logistics and manage resources to provide the best research environment. The candidate will work intently together and report to the Head of Scientific Operations and collaborate with other functions like Health and Safety and IT. 

IOB is a research institute combining basic and clinical research. Its mission is to drive innovations in understanding vision and its related diseases and to develop new therapies for vision loss. Your responsibilities


  • Being in charge of building infrastructure (HLKSE) and critical systems in our research headquarter

  • Providing high quality services with your facility management team and external service providers

  • Overseeing, improving and negotiating for external services on our premises

  • Meeting infrastructural demands and search for practical solutions for research groups and technical platforms

  • Planning, managing and implementation of projects related to setting up new laboratory space

  • Organising logistics, custom clearance processes and assisting procurement for equipment investments

  • Supporting, reporting and decision-making process in budgeting, operations, energy consumption and future infrastructure investments

Requirements


  • FH or University level education or comparable training and at least 5 years of proven track record in facility and project management

  • Familiarity with life science and laboratory infrastructure or R&D operations including experience in laboratory construction projects, logistics and procurement

  • Team player with service, detail and quality-oriented mindset and hands-on problem-solving skills

  • Experience in managing an internal small team and external services

  • Good communication skills in oral and written English
