About The Role
ZEEN Tech AG is a Swiss startup revolutionizing the food industry with our next-generation, water-based frying and drying technology. As our first commercial models enter production, we are already kicking off the development of our next flagship products. To help drive this exciting phase of innovation, we are rapidly expanding our team and looking for passionate individuals to join us.
We are looking for a hands-on electrical specialist to take full ownership of our machines’ electrical architecture. From component selection and schematic design to physical wiring and drive configuration, you will be the absolute authority on our electrical systems. You will work closely with our software and mechanical leads to bring our next prototypes to life and scale them for industrial production.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit & Ownership: Take over, validate, and optimize the existing electrical schematics to ensure safety and compliance.
- Electrical Design & Schematics: Create detailed electrical schematics, cabinet layouts, and wiring diagrams for our upcoming next generation equipment.
- Component Selection: Dimension and select critical components (VFDs, servo drives, motors, MCBs/RCDs, sensors, heating elements), balancing performance, thermal constraints, cost, and availability.
- Hands-on Assembly: Perform the physical wiring of prototypes, including control cabinets and machine cabling. You must be comfortable working with 400V 3-phase systems as well as low-voltage control signals.
- Drive & Fieldbus Configuration: Handle the parameterization and commissioning of Servo Drives and VFDs. Manage the physical layer of communication (cable selection, termination, EMC shielding) for robust fieldbus communication (Modbus RTU/RS485) between remote I/O modules and the controller.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all designs and builds strictly comply with European standards, specifically EN 60204-1 (Safety of Machinery – Electrical Equipment) and the EN 61000 series (EMC).
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Conduct electrical verification tests, insulation resistance testing, and troubleshoot hardware issues during the machine bring-up phase.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: BSc in Electrical Engineering/Mechatronics (FH), OR an Automatiker EFZ with a completed Techniker HF degree (Elektrotechnik / Systemtechnik / Automation).
- Core Skills: - Strong knowledge of industrial electrical planning (EPLAN, WSCAD, or similar) and physical cabinet construction.
- Deep understanding of EMC (Elektromagnetische Verträglichkeit) – you know exactly why shielding matters and how to ground a complex machine properly.
- Experience commissioning drives (setting ramps, limits, tuning current loops) and fieldbuses.
- Mindset: You are not just a "desk planner." You are highly pragmatic and willing to pick up a screwdriver to wire the machine yourself when needed.
- Communication: You are comfortable giving direct feedback on designs and explaining why a certain setup might be unsafe or non-compliant.
- Languages: Fluent in German and good command of English (or vice versa).
Nice to Have
- Experience with thermal systems (industrial heaters, solid-state relays, PID temperature control loops).
- Experience with functional safety (Safe Torque Off - STO, Safety PLCs).
What We Offer
- The chance to work on groundbreaking, next-generation technology that is actively changing the gastronomy and industrial food sectors. Your work will have a direct impact and play a key role in driving our next phases of innovation.
- Flexible hours and a hybrid approach, giving you the freedom to manage your schedule.
- A dynamic, fast-paced environment with quick decision-making and an open feedback culture.
- A highly collaborative team culture where mutual support, knowledge-sharing, and a positive workplace environment are our top priorities.
