The Opportunity
The Senior Principal Engineer serves as a global technical leader and subject matter expert (SME) within Technical Operations. This role provides guidance across the product and process lifecycle, influencing strategy, driving global improvements, and ensuring robust, compliant, and efficient operations across the network.
The Senior Principal Engineer leads complex, crosssite or global initiatives, mentors technical staff, and represents the function in highimpact forums internally.
Your Tasks & Responsibilities
Global Technical Leadership & Global Lifecycle Stewardship
Serve as an enterpriselevel SME for critical process technologies and unit operations, providing authoritative technical guidance across sites.
Represent MS&T in global governance bodies, design reviews, and strategic initiatives.
Own stewardship for defined process families, technology platforms, or system categories across the network.
Provide expert input for technology strategy, modernization roadmaps, and longterm capability building.
Oversee lifecycle performance of assigned processes, equipment, and products across multiple sites, ensuring consistency, robustness, and compliance.
Lead or provide expert direction on technology transfer, scaleup/scaledown, modernization, and lifecycle management projects.
Drive harmonized standards, best practices, and templates across the enterprise.
Operational Support & Complex Problem Solving
Serve as escalation point for complex, multisite technical challenges, facilitating structured problem solving and datadriven decisions.
Lead resolution of highrisk deviations and CAPAs, ensuring enterprise learning and preventive improvements.
Data Analytics & RiskBased Decision Making
Analyze production and analytical data to assess global performance, identify trends, and prioritize improvements.
Guide the use and maturity of riskbased tools (FMEA, PRA) across sites.
Global Project & Portfolio Leadership
Lead or contribute to global S&I and/or OPEX/CAPEX projects involving multiple sites or functions.
Oversee technical execution ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and strategic goals.
Provide technical duediligence, conceptual design input, and architecture for largescale changes.
Process & Technology Optimization
Define and lead networklevel continuous improvement initiatives to drive yield, reliability, efficiency, cost, and sustainability improvements.
Advance global harmonization and standardization efforts for processes, systems, equipment, and documentation.
Validation
Develop riskbased validation strategies for global programs, enabling efficient, compliant, and sciencebased execution.
Audit & Inspection Readiness
Contribute to inspection readiness activities (internal and regulatory), including preapproval inspections.
Review highimpact technical justifications and regulatory submissions.
CrossFunctional Collaboration & Stakeholder Influence
Lead multisite, multifunctional teams to deliver enterprise outcomes.
Serve as a trusted strategic partner to Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, R&D, and Global Functions.
Build consensus across diverse stakeholders and influence without authority, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals.
Safety and Compliance
Act as a role model for safety, adhering to all site guidelines, proactively mitigating risks, and supporting a culture of safety excellence.
Mentoring, Capability Building & Thought Leadership
Mentor engineers, scientists, and site personnel to elevate technical skills, decisionmaking, and problemsolving capability.
Support development of training materials, technical standards, and communities of practice.
Act as a thought leader, representing the company in industry forums as appropriate.
Your Skills and Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or related discipline required.
Advanced degree strongly preferred (MS or PhD).
Experience
7+ years experience in pharmaceutical/biotech operations, MS&T, Process Engineering, Process Technology, or related disciplines.
Demonstrated expertise leading global or crosssite programs, major capital projects, or enterprise transformations.
Significant experience supporting regulated environments (GxP, OSHA, EPA), including inspections.
Strong track record of technical leadership, complex problem solving, and strategic influence.
