Mechanical Design Engineer / Bushing Designer - High-Voltage Technology

For our client, a leading global technology company specializing in power infrastructure and high-voltage solutions based in Zürich, we are looking for a dedicated and precise Bushing Designer. In this role, you will be at the forefront of engineering, designing customer-specific components and driving the mechanical evolution of power technology.

 

General Information:

• Location: Zürich (On-site)

• Start Date: 02.02.2026

• Duration: 11 months, with the possibility of an extension

• Workload: 100% (No Home Office)
   

How You'll Make an Impact:

• Custom Engineering: Lead the development and design of customer-specific high-voltage bushings, ensuring innovative mechanical solutions meet rigorous performance and safety standards.

• Technical Documentation: Create and maintain precise technical drawings, detailed bills of materials (BOMs), and master data within the SAP system.

• Design Precision: Implement complex technical specifications, applying expert-level knowledge of dimensional, form, and positional tolerances (GD&T).

• Process Optimization: Review and enhance existing designs to improve efficiency, ease of manufacture, and overall product quality.

• Project Execution: Independently manage smaller development projects, prototype designs, or tooling improvements to streamline manufacturing operations.

• Continuous Improvement: Identify design errors or deficiencies and recommend proactive revisions to improve the strength-weight efficiency and cost-effectiveness of components.
  
   

Your Background:

• Education: Completed vocational training as a Design Engineer (Konstrukteur EFZ) or a comparable technical qualification.

• Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional experience in mechanical or product design. Experience with high-voltage components or industrial power equipment is a plus.

• Software Expertise: Proficiency in 3D CAD is essential; advanced experience with PTC Creo and PTC Windchill is highly beneficial.

• Systems Knowledge: Strong command of SAP for managing engineering data and master records.

• Working Style: You are a senior-level professional capable of working under limited supervision. You possess a solution-oriented mindset and the ability to train/mentor junior team members.

• Languages: Very good German skills (written and spoken) are required; English proficiency is a distinct advantage.
