The National Center of Competence in Research (NCCR) AntiResist is a Swiss-wide research consortium funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). AntiResist is transforming antibiotic discovery and development through in vitro modelling of in-patient conditions in order to address antibiotic resistance, a problem of global importance. To reach this goal, AntiResist has assembled a panel of experts in the fields of clinical research, infection biology, engineering, chemistry, computation, and pharmacology.
Researchers from the Biozentrum of the University of Basel, the Department of Biomedicine at the University of Basel, University Hospital Basel, and the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE) of ETH Zurich in Basel work in close proximity to each other at the Life Science Campus in Basel. Additional research groups are located at the ETH Zurich, the University of Zurich, Balgrist University Hospital, the EPFL Lausanne, the University of Lausanne, the University of Geneva, Uppsala University in Sweden, and the Ben-Gurion University in Beer-Sheva, Israel.

Your position
NCCR AntiResist aims to train the next generation of researchers and clinicians in infectious diseases using novel interdisciplinary approaches. To support this aim, NCCR AntiResist awards unique PhD Fellowships in Antibiotic Discovery.

We invite talented and ambitious young scientists from all over the world to join our NCCR AntiResist community. Our fellowships are particularly well suited for students from the three major research fields of the NCCR AntiResist: clinical research, infection biology and engineering.

Our PhD fellowships provide successful applicants with funding for up to 4 years within the consortium. Fellows will be part of a vibrant community of more than 40 PhD students, with educational benefits ranging from cross-disciplinary research projects and tutoring to hands-on teaching in state-of-the art technology, and joint summer schools.
