Job Overview
This newly created role within the Swiss Operations organization is a key member in supporting the start-up and continued success of the injection molding and device assembly operations at the Zug production site. This role serves as an informal leader to all operations technical staff, providing guidance and support in troubleshooting and process optimization for all software concerns.
The role serves as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert (SME) for all equipment-related issues concerning integration with the manufacturing execution system and the intralogistics system. The owner is responsible for troubleshooting these issues and escalating them to the appropriate IT or supply chain management (SCM) teams when they cannot be resolved directly on the shop floor.
A key focus of the role is continuously improving machine operations to optimize waste reduction and productivity while maintaining cost efficiency.
As the operational lead for all machine-related quality issues, the role owner actively participates in corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes, working to resolve issues and implement long-term solutions. This role requires effective collaboration with a highly talented technical team OE and PD to drive improvements and maintain operational excellence.
Continuous improvement initiatives taking into considerations the learnings and best-practices from SHL Medicals international manufacturing footprint are a fundamental part of the role, contributing to the ongoing enhancement of production processes. Additionally, the role owner works closely with operational leadership and HR to develop a pipeline of skilled technical talent, ensuring long-term workforce competitiveness and sustainability. Other tasks may be assigned as needed by operational and plant leadership.
Main Responsibilities
- Directly responsible for developing state-of-the-art manufacturing processes following Industry 4.0 standards as part of a cross-functional engineering team.
- Implement stable, high-quality injection molding and assembly processes taking into considerations learnings and best-in class approaches from across the manufacturing network.
- Act as an informal leader for all operations technical staff, providing guidance and expertise.
- Own the development of the operations IT landscape as super-user and the integration of manufacturing processes in the SCM environment
- Act as SME and first contact for equipment integration issues with MES and intralogistics, troubleshooting and escalating as needed.
- Continuously optimize machine operations to reduce waste, increase productivity, and maintain cost-effective performance.
- Work effectively as part of a highly talented interdisciplinary technical team, fostering a collaborative and problem-solving culture.
- Partner with operational leadership and HR to develop a strong pipeline of technical talent.
- Identify, implement, and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other tasks as assigned by operational and/or plant leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of manufacturing experience with demonstrated success in highly automated and integrated manufacturing systems.
- Profound knowledge in Manufacturing Execution Systems and interlinked processes.
- Experience in medical device industry (ISO13485).
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Fluency in German & English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in injection molding and automated assembly.
- Green belt or higher Six Sigma Certification.
