The University of Basel's Department of English at the Department of Languages and Literatures advertises the position of Lecturer in Anglophone Literary and Cultural Studies ('postcolonial'; 25% Universitätsdozentur), to be filled by February 1, 2026.
Your position
The teaching load will be 4 hrs, i.e. 2 courses per term, and the lecturer will be expected to give lectures and teach proseminars and research seminars, to supervise MA theses and PhD theses, and to take over administrative duties as appropriate.
Your profile
The successful candidate will have a PhD and several years of post-doc experience in Anglophone Literary and Cultural Studies (habilitationsäquivalente Leistungen) as well as an excellent teaching and research record in postcolonial studies, if possible with a focus on Africa and/or popular culture.
