(Senior) Industrial Control & IoT Engineer

  • Your mission at Climeworks is to prototype and lab test the network and controls architectures for our next generation of CO2 capture plants. These use the latest industrial ethernet protocols, PLCs (programmable logic controllers), DCS (distributed controls systems), and IoT platforms.
  • You improve and maintain the Climeworks IoT (Internet of Things) Edge platform, including code updates, product documentation, and connecting new CO2 capture plants to the Climeworks cloud.
  • You supervise and approve supplier plant architecture proposals.
  • You build and maintain infrastructure to test and release the software that runs Climeworks carbon dioxide removal plants.
  • You evaluate new technologies to reduce plant lead time and cost.
    • You have a bachelor or master’s in computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields.
    • You have a background in control systems (PLC, DCS) and industrial ethernet.
    • You have experience with IoT Edge technologies (Azure / open-source solutions).
    • You have experience with TypeScript, and ideally with React.
    • You have experience with DevOps, GitOps, CICD.
    • You have experience with containerized applications (Kubernetes).
    • Ideally you have experience with Azure Services.
    • You are self-driven, proactive, persistent, and enjoy doing hands-on work.
    • You are a team player and thrive in an environment that is fast-growing and not yet fully defined and established.
    • You are fluent in English; any German knowledge is a plus.


Your team: You will work in a cross-disciplinary team at the fascinating intersection of controls engineering, IT, and carbon capture. Our team of ambitious and creative “makers” includes engineers with five to 25 years of experience in controls, software engineering, mechatronics, and automation.  Our past experience includes building software products for Silicon Valley startups, commissioning gigawatts of power generation across the world, controlling Formula 1 race cars, and launching MPC controls into mass market cars and trucks. Now we’re working together with a common purpose: Remove CO₂ from the air.
