Research Assistant (PhD student)

The Chair of Mathematics for Business and Economics focuses on the mathematical solution of business problems. We model and optimize stochastic dynamic systems via Markov decision processes and approximate dynamic programming. Our applications are in the field of operations management and revenue management, in particular. We teach mathematics and optimization at the Bachelor and Master level.

Research Assistant (PhD student)

Your responsibilities

  • Developing, managing and publishing research projects within the field of approximate dynamic programming or revenue management
  • Assisting in teaching of introductory math or optimization classes
  • Supervision of Bachelor or Master theses

Your profile

  • Strong background in mathematics and an excellent master's degree in (applied) Mathematics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related, quantitative field of study
  • Solid knowledge of optimization and/or stochastic processes
  • Good knowledge in at least one higher programming language (e.g. Matlab, AMPL)
  • Strong motivation for scientific research and teaching
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Reliable team players
