Job Description
Role purpose
We are seeking a talented synthetic organic chemist - whether you are a recent PhD graduate or an experienced industry scientist - to join our synthesis group within Crop Protection Research Chemistry in Stein, Switzerland. As a Synthesis Lead, you will combine excellence in synthesis with strong leadership to develop a high-performing, safety-conscious, and collaborative team. You will work across functions and cultures to advance impactful research projects. We value scientists who bring creative approaches to technical challenges and help shape the future of crop protection.
Accountabilities
- Delivery of small-molecule targets by team members and self, driving effective synthesis strategies, improving synthesis efficiency, and providing impactful trouble-shooting leadership
- Lead and support the growth of team members
- Bring new thinking to innovation in working methods and technical capabilities
- Ensure a high standard of laboratory safety and HSE compliance
- Maintain high documentation standards for synthesis data reporting
- Foster collaboration across teams and contribute to strong community building
- Collaborate across research sites to identify and address barriers to enhance the global productivity of the synthesis organization.
Qualifications
- Excellence in synthesis; whether you have 5+ years of industry experience or are transitioning from a PhD/Postdoc program with a strong research record, we value the unique perspective you bring
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex synthetic challenges efficiently
- Scientific experience with proven delivery in synthesis in academia or industry, demonstrated by a strong record of publications, patents or scientific talks
- Education: PhD in Organic Chemistry is required; postdoctoral and/or industrial experience may be an advantage
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to positively impact scientific collaborations, fostering productive teamwork in technical environments
- Forward-thinking mindset with a proactive approach to emerging trends and technologies in the field, coupled with curiosity and initiative in project execution and personal growth.
- Fluency in English, written and spoken
