Claims Manager

Entering a new transformative phase, UNIQA Re is building a future-ready approach to claims management. To support the growth of our non-group reinsurance portfolio, we are looking for a determined and collaborative Claims Manager to join our team.

 As a Claims Manager, you will have a unique opportunity to shape claims handling at UNIQA Re and contribute directly to our long-term strategic goals. This position offers a distinctive opportunity for an accomplished, forward-thinking professional committed to advancing their expertise while making meaningful impact within the organization. You will play a pivotal role in developing and embedding claims analytics across the organization, reporting to the Head of Claims and working closely with key internal stakeholders.

  What to expect  

• Independently handle and manage a diverse portfolio of claims, both straightforward and complex, across Property, Liability, Motor, Accident, Transport, and Engineering
  • Assess coverage and liability issues, including interpretation and applying of reinsurance contracts
  • Read and interpret expert reportsto determine coverage and liability
  • Perform detailed claims analysis, identify trends, and prepare reports to UNIQA Re management, underwriting, and risk management
  • Review and assess quarterly bordereaux from external reinsurers ensuring transparency and compliance
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of claims handling processes
  • Engage in cross-functional projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing claims operations and overall business performance

Collaboration  

• Communicate with reinsurers and brokers on claim notifications, resolve complaints, and contribute actively to meetings
• Increasing collaboration with claims experts of external reinsurers
• Work closely with internal UNIQA Re departments
• Participation in quarterly and annual closings as well as in planning and forecasting processes. 

We expect 

• Solid business administration knowledge
• 5+ years of practical experience in at least one of the following areas:
  • Reinsurance department of an insurance company
  • Underwriting, product management, or claims handling
  • Account/client management at a reinsurer
• Basic legal knowledge (advantageous)
• Strong negotiation skills and analytical thinking
• Excellent communication skills and assertiveness
• Independent, structured, and organized work style
• Very good command of German and English, both written and spoken
