Raw industrial crystals typically have rough, curvy surfaces that hide internal defects: bubbles, cracks, and clouds. Those defects are detrimental to LED and micro-LED wafer production.

With its automated 3D scanner, Scientific Visual successfully detected such defects in a 260 kg Kyropolous sapphire. It enables to optimise coring and to maximise the amount of quality material harvested from the crystal.
