ETH for Development (ETH4D) is an ETH-wide initiative to develop innovations that address global development challenges and to educate future leaders in sustainable development. Building on the success of the MA Programme with Ashesi University, we are now looking to expand our educational partnerships and collaborations.

Job description

The Programme Manager will support the ETH4D Executive Office and Programme Directorate with setting up new educational partnerships with African Universities and ETH Zurich. The contract duration is 1 year with the possibility of extension linked to funding and prorgamme success. Tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Developing concepts and proposals for partnership programs
  • Partnership building including travelling to various African countries for 1-2 weeks several times per year.
  • Coordinating activities with academics and institutes at ETH and other European and African universities
  • Fundraising, financial management and reporting
  • Organising events for donors and project partners

Profile

The ideal candidate fulfils the following requirements:

  • MA, MSc or PhD degree;
  • Strong ability to communicate in English (oral and written); additional languages such as French or Swahili are a plus;
  • Outstanding intercultural communication skills, and ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team; ability to reflect on one's own biases, assumptions and stereotypes;
  • Experience in managing projects including financial management and working with various stakeholders;
  • Dedication to detail, open-minded, kind, excited to learn new things and to work in a dynamic and fast-paced team;
  • Experience in the field of international development and/ or work experience in an African country is a strong plus.
