Job Description

Your responsibilities

The selected candidate will start by performing tests of the full-sized modules to identify the performance from different assembly sites. A testing program comprising of various scans will be developed for the final quality control.. Modules will then be loaded onto a cooling plate and the testing will be done with the final back-end components of the detector. Assembly of the components is foreseen at CERN and the fellow will participate in ensuring the assembly procedure is successful. The detector vessel will also be assembled in advance for the measurements of the prototype. Special focus on the environmental and detector monitoring will be made and developments of the detector control system with the electronics. Tests of the readout system and back-end of the detector will be used to demonstrate the full system integration. The candidate will also oversee the initial commissioning plans during the assembly process of the final detector.

About us

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.

Diversity has been an integral part of CERN's mission since its foundation and is an established value of the Organization. Employing a diverse workforce is central to our success.
