Job Description

The Media & Public Relations Manager will develop and drive the SGS Group’s Public Relations strategy, with the aim to boost SGS’s reputation in the public eye, gain earned media coverage, and support business objectives. You also will work with global and local communications teams to develop business and local Public Relations strategies.

Reporting line and level

The Media & Public Relations Manager is a key member of the global communications team, reporting into the Group Vice-President of Investor Relations, Communications and Sustainability. Although the role has no direct report, it coordinates with investor relations, sustainability, global communications, marketing, copywriting, digital, brand, business and operations teams.

Specific responsibilities

  • Produce and write corporate press releases and interact with other internal departments accordingly
  • Build relations with relevant influential media in key international markets and Switzerland, juggling a combination of proactive and reactive communications that protect and enhance our reputation
  • Develop and implement the SGS corporate public relations strategy
  • Ability to articulate impactful written and verbal reactions and representations on behalf of the Company
  • Work with stakeholders to support business or local Public Relations strategies. Manage corporate Public Relations interactions in key markets, sharing campaign learnings and experience with stakeholders where relevant
  • Oversee the Group crisis management process and support with crisis communications in conjunction with crisis management team
  • In conjunction with the Digital Analytics team, regularly monitor and report on SGS’s reputation in the media

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field
  • 5-10+ years working in PR and media
  • Excellent network of international and Swiss media contacts
  • Required English (native or bilingual proficiency) and German (professional working proficiency), fluent French is nice to have
  • Experience working in an international environment and understanding of complex organizations

  • Strong writing skills with an ability to combine synthetic, analytical and strategic messaging are key
  • Ability to think strategically and to understand the complexities of different industries and target audiences
  • We are looking for a quick learner, who enjoys coming up with innovative ideas and implementing them
  • You should be dynamic, influential and have excellent interpersonal skills with a desire to work with flexibility and autonomy

Additional Information

This position can be based in Switzerland, UK, France, Spain or Germany with the requirement of working in hybrid model. Business travels might also occur on a monthly basis.
