Overview

The Logistics department is responsible for ensuring delivery of our products to our end customer at a high level of service, damage free, and at the lowest possible cost. This includes ensuring our 15 facilities and several vendors have the resources to serve our final customer. Department responsibilities include carrier onboarding, contract and rate negotiation, carrier management, special dedicated or project capacity generation, TMS oversight, training and support, and freight payment guidance.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Logistics Analyst – Carrier Management is responsible for supporting the successful operation of Holcim manufacturing sites and distribution centers which allows us to delight our customers. Responsibilities include:

  • Carrier vetting, rate negotiations, and on-boarding;
  • Maintain carrier scorecard, address concerns, and develop action plans;
  • Benchmark Holcim rates against market and develop strategies to stay below market;
  • Forecast capacity trends and impact on Holcim’s outbound demand;
  • Manage the rate structure in our TMS including expired rates and non-performing carriers;
  • Assist and guide other business units as needed regarding transportation issues and challenges;
  • Assist with the inbound routing guide;
  • Conduct annual driver survey focused on becoming a top shipper of choice;
  • Annual and as needed rate negotiations and capacity securement on the following:
  • Flatbed w/HAZMAT (65%);
  • LTL (15%);
  • Truckload dry van (10%);
  • Dray moves to port (5%);
  • Temp controlled van (5%).
  • Maintain carrier compliance software (currently Avetta);
  • Document TMS functions and develop training for back up;
  • Communicating KPIs and understanding root causes in order to identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Develop and lead the annual carrier summit;
  • Participate in the annual National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.
  • Working Conditions:
  • Up to 10% travel required;
  • This position is based in Nashville, TN; hybrid work schedule with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.

Qualifications

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • Degree in Logistics or related field desired.
  • Degree in Logistics or related field desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • Professional Experience:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in logistics or distribution;
  • 2+ years of experience writing Tableau reports;
  • Strong computer and analytical skills;
  • Experience with TMS optimization tools, OBC, or other tracking software;
  • Ability to work well in teams and work with and train remote teammates.
