We are looking for a Underwriting Portfolio Management Specialist to work within our SME General Insurance team, working on Property, Liability, Motor, Marine and Accident & Health lines. Reporting to the Digital Portfolio Manager, you will identify opportunities and develop ideas to manage performance and drive growth within the SME portfolio, whilst working with the underwriting team to maintain underwriting and operational excellence across the portfolio

You will be responsible for managing performance of specific portfolio segments (industry, customer and geographic) by leveraging underwriting, product and pricing strategies to drive sustainable growth and maintain long term profitability. It will be essential to understand customer behaviours, requirements and market developments and apply commercial acumen to drive an innovative SME proposition that attracts and retains customers.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Determining SME market position of Zurich, including competitor proposition and pricing position.
• Focusing on customer solutions. Using appropriate customer metrics to define propositions, including marketing surveys, TNPS and RNPS, and focus groups
• Identify portfolio underwriting strategies to maximise growth opportunities in profitable segments and mitigate underperforming segments
• Collaborate with the Platforms team to design and implement business rules to drive efficiency and automation within the SME segment
• Work with line of business heads to develop and enhance SME products and proposition
• Develop and deliver training to drive technical underwriting excellence and capability uplift across the SME underwriting teams
• Manage review and updating of underwriting guidelines

In order to be successful you will have the following:

• Understanding of the financial drivers of portfolio performance
• Strong technical experience in commercial underwriting
• Portfolio or product management experience
• Track record of developing and executing to deliver underwriting results
• Familiar with the relevant LOB wordings and rating tools
• Ability to analyse data in order to develop ideas and test assumptions
