In the role of IP Paralegal, you will participate in and contribute to the process of Intellectual Property development throughout the entire lifecycle from creation to expiration, and the IP formalities and administration as part of the global IP Operations team.As IP Paralegal based in Baden, Switzerland, you will have a dual focus on trademarks and patents, with a majority of the work being on the trademark side. In handling the full range of administrative tasks associated with international IP management, you will play an important role in our day-to-day operations.

Your responsibilities

  • Overseeing the outsourcing of drafting, filing and docketing of IP rights.
  • Oversee document transfer to and from patent and trademark offices and handle correspondence with attorneys, in addition to requesting and filing documents.
  • Assist IP attorneys with audits, portfolio reviews, deadline management, and conflict resolution and support administrative activities such as reporting and cost accounting.
  • Assist IP attorneys and internal business customers in the processing and review of new invention disclosures.
  • Participating in the development of IP workflows best practices and usage of our IP database by internal IP team and external law firm users, to ensure company guidelines are followed for data quality and electronic document uploads.
  • Manage administrative tasks regarding intake and archival of correspondence, certificates and other correspondence with law-firms and IP offices, as well as obtaining notarization and legalization and other administrative tasks.

Your background

  • 5+ years’ experience as IP paralegal or similar, in law firm and/or corporation.
  • Solid understanding of procedures of relevance to national and international trademark and patent management, particularly EPC, PCT, USPTO, and CNIPA procedures is meritorious.
  • Completed bachelor’s degree or similar educational background.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications and experience using web-based IP data management software tools in global organizations.
  • Attention to detail, well-developed organizational and analytical skills, team spirit, flexibility, and ability to handle changing assignments and priorities.
  • Experience working in or supporting client that is a large multi-national global corporation and working as a team with people of different locations and cultures.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
