PhD Student and Research Associate Positions in Economics and Finance (m/f/d)

Your tasks

You will be enrolled in a PhD program of the Graduate Program in Economics and Finance (possible specializations are economics, econometrics and finance) under the doctoral supervision of
Prof. Dr. Matthias Weber.

You will conduct rigorous research in one of the following topic areas:
1.       Machine learning in taxation
2.       Understanding preferences on taxation
3.       Decision theory and behavioral finance

Most of your time will be spent on conducting academic research. To a lesser extent, you will assist in teaching activities and engage in outreach activities to make a bridge from academic research to applications.


Your profile

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., economics, econometrics finance or computer science), to be completed by summer 2024
  • Strong interest in (at least) one of the mentioned research areas
  • Strong interest in conducting academic research
  • Strong interest in the application of machine learning methods to real-world data and in the refinement of such methods [topic area 1], in conducting surveys and experiments and/or in empirical work [topic area 2] or in theoretical modeling in economics and finance and/or in running experiments [topic area 3]
