The Position

Our Global Internship Programme in Innovation & Sustainability #IP2TIS offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry while making a positive impact on the world. As a sustainability and innovation intern, you will work on cutting-edge projects that align with our commitment to environmental responsibility, social impact, and forward-thinking solutions.

You will be responsible for leveraging advanced data science techniques and artificial intelligence to enhance the prediction and analysis of SDG-related risks and progress at a leading healthcare company. This is a chance to use your skills and passion to affect positive change in the healthcare industry and give insights as to what is needed for a corporation to keep the promises that it makes in glossy annual reports and on marketing websites.

The Data Scientist will play a pivotal role in employing advanced data science and artificial intelligence methodologies to drive insights, enhance predictive analytics, and assess risks and progress concerning Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) within the healthcare sector.

You will be working in the Informatics team working together with global partners from Sustainability and Procurement departments to bring Data-Driven Decision Making, Innovation in Sustainability Tracking and Resource Optimization.

This internship position is located in Basel, on site / hybrid (2-3 days in the office is recommended).

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with stakeholders to identify and summarize different scenarios with regards to the sustainability strategy of an industry leading healthcare company

  • Analyzing and identifying the most valuable data points in terms of predicting sustainability performance

  • Creating predictive models to determine our expected performance with regards to sustainability and presenting this back to executive leadership with recommendations

Who You Are

You are enrolled or have completed your Bachelor’s studies at a university, preferably in the field of Data Science within the last 12 months. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, healthcare industry knowledge, and a passion for sustainability and social impact.

Furthermore you possess the following skillset

Programming: Proficiency in Python or another programming language.

Data Science: Ability to analyze data sets, visualize data, extract insights, and apply statistical techniques.

Machine Learning: Understanding of machine learning algorithms and their applications.

Problem-Solving Abilities: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and strategically.
Communication and Collaboration: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Team collaboration experience is essential.

The start date for the internship is 1. July 2024.
