Your Profile

  • You hold a Master’s Degree majoring in Economics , Mathematics or Engineering
  • You have confirmed quantitative modelling and analytical skills with strong attention to detail and bring a minimum of 6 years of professional experience in this field.
  • Having confirmed knowledge of some European markets and US energy market would be seen as an advantage, more particularly in Power
  • You have programming skills (SQL/Python) and/or visualization frameworks (Tableau/PowerBI/etc.) will be appreciated.
  • You have a strong interest and curiosity for the energy markets and more specifically the Power markets.
  • You can work autonomously as well as part of a team promoting a collaborative environment
  • You have an innovative mind and you showcase a can-do attitude enabling you to initiate ideas and to put them into practice
  • Your agility enables you to strive is a fast-paced environment.
  • You have good communication skills and a strong sense of synthesis, which enables you to summarize complex problems in a precise and concise way.
  • Excellent communication skills in English. Minimum professional proficiency in French is an advantage

About us

We are looking to hire our new Senior Power Market Analyst, reporting to our Head of Market Modelling, to join our Performance team which is part of the Trading Energy Management division of TotalEnergies Gas & Power (TEGP). TEGP is the Trading arm of TotalEnergies in the field of low carbon energies and is headquartered in Geneva.

TotalEnergies is targeting to build a portfolio of 100 GW of renewables by 2030 and to become one of the main player in renewables worldwide. This will be achieved through many investment projects (2-4 b$/year). Trading Energy management (TEM) will contribute to this ambition by managing financial and physical power and risks of the renewables portfolio on open markets. TEM performance team aims at supporting TEM in creating a profitable and sustainable portfolio by providing analyses of the profitability and risks of its different businesses (ppa portfolio, short term optimisation, etc…).

Within the Performance team, as Power Market Analyst, you will contribute to a better understanding of the European and US power markets in terms of prices and fundamentals by building and improving long term power markets fundamental modelling (10 years horizon) with quantitative and qualitative analyses. You will provide analysis and support to Senior Management on investment decision files and for any power market related questions.

What you will do

  • You will contribute to the development and improvement of quantitative models of power markets based on fundamentals (supply, demand, flows, generation mix evolution, climate...) in order to build hourly prices forecasts for Europe and/or US markets.
  • You will monitor external publications, developments in market design and regulation changes that could impact price dynamics, and translate and update fundamental model assumptions datasets.
  • You will develop and maintain TEM’s expertise and knowledge on power markets.
  • You will handle the functional coordination of working tasks for one or several Power Market Analysts.
  • You will run regular reports on market updates to TEM’s Traders and Management as well as to other BU and affiliates; create and update presentations on market-related topics ; create and develop appropriate tools and BI reports.
  • You will be working closely with Trading Research, IPBU, One Tech and Holding strategy teams to ensure alignment of parties on key assumptions.
  • You will carry specific analyses related to investment decision files and questions related to long term power markets in Europe and US and make recommendation to Management.
