Position Summary

As a Research Assistant in Neurobiology, your main activity will be to plan, coordinate, execute and report neuroscience experiments. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team studying the impact of nutrition on brain health, with an emphasis on the aging brain.

A day in the life of a Research Assistant in Neurobiology

o Design and carry out experiments for neuroscience projects
o Develop experimental methods and protocols
o Provide technical and scientific support to projects by assisting scientists and project leaders in the selection of the analytical approach and method
o Manage and coordinate autonomously experimental activities within larger projects, and consolidate data with project/activity leader
o Present methods and results at department and Nestlé Research level, and write communications and reports

What will make you successful

o Master in Neurobiology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry or equivalent
o Experience with the design, execution, and development of in vitro assays in a neuroscience context
o Extensive experience with primary cultures of brain cells
o Expertise with standard molecular biology techniques: RNA & protein extraction from cells and tissues, qRT-PCR, western blotting
o Expertise with imaging techniques: immunolabeling, fluorescence microscopy, image quantification
o Experience with histology techniques such as cryostat sectioning, immunohistochemistry
o Experience with reviewing scientific literature (technological and subject matter field of expertise) and providing recommendations on experimental approaches
o Experience in scientific reporting (analytical reports, results sections of R&D reports etc.)
o Fluent in English both spoken and written
