In this role, you drive the technical developments of proof of concepts and demonstrators of new robotics solutions within the organization, to showcase how construction problems can be solved in new ways. Who is Hilti? For the sixth time in the past 11 years, Hilti has been named one of the best employers by Great Place to Work. A family-established company, we are over 32,000 employees based in 120 international locations. At Hilti, we provide leading-edge tools, technologies, software, and services for the global construction industry and beyond. Our strong customer relationships make us a partner on the job site, creating solutions that build a better future. We invest a substantial amount of our annual profit to the Hilti Foundation, which focuses on initiatives that empower people to live independently and autonomously, contribute to building stronger societies, and create networks of competent partners to achieve sustainable and scalable impact. What does the role involve? The Robotics Team works within the Corporate Research & Technology Department, where it fosters the development of new robotic concepts and demonstrators for the organization. The team combines diverse skills in key technologies (state estimation, control, perception, manipulation, path planning & obstacle avoidance, robotics simulation, etc.) and works together to automate applications and workflows in construction via robotics.

In collaboration with your team, you will create and support the research, prototyping and validation of mobile robots for applications within the construction industry, while incorporating increasing autonomy and novel ways of working.

As part of this role, your tasks can include: proposing and managing R&D projects; defining technology platforms and architectural choices; hands-on software development and prototyping; establishing and nurturing a network of external collaborations with Academia and Industry; identifying opportunities for IP development and filing patent applications on new concepts... All the while being the face of change to a wide internal audience of stakeholders within the organization. In Corporate Research & Technology we drive mid-to long-term innovation in an environment of interdisciplinary competence, creativity and purpose. Here the pace is fast, fun, and inspiring! What do we offer? Join over 3000 colleagues from over 70 nationalities at one of our Headquarter locations in Schaan, Nendeln (Liechtenstein), or Buchs SG (Switzerland) is more than a career move. It’s your opportunity to enjoy the energizing, alpine lifestyle - where Liechtenstein, Austria, and Switzerland seamlessly meet. It’s an unforgettable life change.

Share your interests and become a part of one of our employee groups leading change locally, for example, supporting female empowerment or the LGBTQ+ community, etc, or joining a sports group for a Wednesday mountain bike ride or tennis match, etc. If you are passionate about giving back to the community, we have various opportunities to volunteer through our engaged beyond business program locally and internationally.

Additional benefits of our headquarters location include shared e-bikes for your commute, an on-site gym, two restaurants, language courses, learning and development training opportunities, tax insurance, financial guidance, on-site child care, relocation and career guidance for your partner, and more.

For the full range of benefits, take a look at Why should you apply? About you: you are someone who wants to influence your own development. You’re looking for a company where you have the opportunity to pursue your interests across functions and geographies, where a job title is not considered a final destination but the starting point. What you need is:

  • PhD in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Industry/Academia, with demonstrated growth in robotics product development and/or research

  • Technical expertise in multiple of these areas: State Estimation, Control, Path Planning, Obstacle Avoidance, Manipulation, Navigation, Robotics Simulation
