Department Lead/ Subchapter Lead - Solution Development and Integration

The Position

As a Solution Development & Integration Sub-Chapter Lead, you will be a member of the Solution Development & Integration Leadership Team.

This is a Department Lead level position and requires experience in lab automation and in vitro diagnostics product development.

In this Department Lead position, your role is to oversee and guide the Solution Development & Integration capabilities within your sub-chapter (Solution stands for “System of Systems” in this context). You provide effective leadership to your team, offering guidance, coaching, and support throughout project execution. You foster a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and accountability. Your responsibilities also include maintaining and improving Solution Development & Integration resources, aligning them with industry standards and best practices. Collaboration with other leads is crucial to adapt your team to the needs of the projects they serve, for sharing best practices and allocating resources effectively. Overall, your role is instrumental in driving System Engineering excellence and contributing to the success of Roche Diagnostics. Furthermore, you will interact closely with other Chapters to determine how to deliver comprehensive and successful solutions to business challenges.

Your responsibilities in this role

  • Lead a team of approximately 15 people as a line manager following the Roche leadership principles with a creative mindset.

  • You co-create within the chapter a strategy to change from a discipline oriented organization to a more project delivery oriented organization. You lead your newly formed, interdisciplinary team through this change.

  • Ensure that the Solution Development & Integration capabilities within your sub-chapter are aligned with the current and future needs of the organization.

  • Proactively engage with various stakeholders and represent our chapter towards some key projects. In addition, you will collaborate with other organizations within Roche Diagnostics for e.g. senior leaders from other R&D chapters or networks, Marketing & Customer Insights, Global Customer Support or Operations.

Who You Are

  • University degree in Engineering or Computer Science or a related field

  • 10+ years of experience in medical device product development, ideally in Lab Automation or In Vitro Diagnostics Products.

  • Strong experience in line leadership, preferably with a track record of creating and leading interdisciplinary, diverse teams.

  • Ability to navigate within an organization with evolving needs, while maintaining objectivity, respect for differences of opinion, fairness, open communication, and consensus-building skills.

  • Fluent in English (verbal and written), knowledge of German is a plus.
