Job Overview
The Head of Legal, Europe provides legal services to SHL Medical and affiliates, serves as an advisor to the Chief Legal Officer (“CLO”) and the rest of the Legal Department and collaborates with Human Resources on Swiss employment law related matters. We are looking for a team-oriented Senior Professional leading one Legal Counsel and thriving in a global business environment.
Main Responsibilities
- Serve as an advisor to the Chief Legal Officer (“CLO”) and the rest of the Legal Department
- Provide accurate, timely, clear, and well-reasoned advice on legal matters and keep employees advised on key changes to laws impacting the organization
- Lead complex contract negotiation with the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies
- Represent SHL Medical in international merger and acquisition transactions, strategic initiatives, and re-organization
- Manage corporate governance and secretarial responsibilities, including but not limited to filing for and maintaining business and company registrations in Switzerland, and managing legal documents and corporate records
- Organize and oversee legal and project work of other attorneys, paralegals, and outside counsels in support of multiple cross-jurisdictional or cross-site programs as needed
- Monitor and manage any potential dispute or litigation
- Structure, implement, and monitor appropriate internal policies and global legal and compliance trainings for management and employees of the organization
- Collaborate with Human Resources on Swiss employment law related matters
- Evaluate and review of the organization's current and proposed activities, policies, business practices, and transactions to ensure such activities comply with all relevant laws and regulations
- Shape and implement short-term and long-term goals of the Legal Department and the organization
- Propose and support CLO to manage department resources and personnel, including training
Skills and Qualification
- Must be licensed to practice in Switzerland (passed the Swiss Bar exam and/or be admitted to the Bar association)
- Must have 6 to 10 years of diverse PQE, including law firm and in-house experience
- Native German speaker with clear oral, written, and communication skills
- Bilingual proficiency in English is a must
- In-house experience in medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry, health regulatory environment, and intellectual property licensing is preferred
- Experienced in diverse, cross-cultural working environment with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate successfully in a constantly changing, fast paced environment and to complete multiple tasks in a timely and accurate manner independently or to collaborate with others
- Demonstrated strong leadership and management skills
