To complete the team, the Institute of Psychology of the Faculty of Social and political sciences is looking for a Postdoctoral researcher SNSF in family psychology, funded by a Sinergia grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation.


The position under the responsibility of Joëlle Darwiche, Associate Professor, Family and Development Research Center (FADO).

Contract length : 1 year, renewable yearly for a maximum of 3 years


Activity rate : 90%


Workplace : Lausanne-Dorigny


Your responsibilities

You will work on a research project funded by a Sinergia grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation (https://sinergiafamy.ch). The project is entitled "FamyCH: Family Custody Arrangements and Child Well-Being in Switzerland”, and its grant applicants are Prof. Joëlle Darwiche, lead principal investigator, University of Lausanne; Prof. Laura Bernardi, University of Lausanne; Prof. Sabrina Burgat, University of Neuchâtel; and Prof. Elli Mosayebi, ETH Zurich.


The project focuses on post-separation custody arrangements and their impact on children and will contribute to the identification of risk and resilience factors for child well-being after parental union


dissolution in Switzerland. To assess the longitudinal impact of the family relational dynamics, you will combine data from the daily psychological study with data from the longitudinal panel survey.


You will have a chance to be a part of a project which will produce the best integrated empirical evidence needed to further theory, research, and practice, to inform legal and housing market actors, and serve children’s developmental and psychological needs in Switzerland. You will gain experience in working in an interdisciplinary team with both academic and non-academic experts in the field of child well-being following union dissolution. You will work in an environment of integrative research communities (Family and Development research center: https://www.unil.ch/fado/).


Your qualifications

In order to complete our team, we are looking for someone with the following skills : 




  • PhD in Psychology or Social Sciences. Specialization in family studies is an asset




  • Confirmed interest in scientific research on families and relational dynamics (post-separation or divorce families; custody arrangements; parental, interparental, and family dynamics; child well-being)




  • Experience in writing scientific articles




  • Linguistic competence (fluency in written and spoken academic English; knowledge of French is an asset)




  • Good knowledge of statistics (e.g., dyadic analyses) and research methodology (quantitative, mixed methods)




  • Previous experience in daily diary studies and intensive longitudinal methods is an asset




  • Organized, self-reliant, able to work independently, good team spirit
