THE OPPORTUNITY

The Global Category Lead (GCL) CapEx, MRO, Utilities, FM assumes a pivotal role within both the Direct Procurement Leadership Team and the Global Engineering Leadership Team.

The GCL CapEx, MRO, Utilities, FM is tasked with establishing, managing, and nurturing a proficient CapEx, MRO, Utilities, FM Category Team. This encompasses various responsibilities, including recruitment, target setting, performance monitoring, conducting quality assessments, and fostering career development plans.

The role holder is expected to support the development of the relevant Procurement strategies in a complex environment to ensure competitive, best in class suppliers are contracted, focusing on engagement and partnership.

The GCL CapEx, MRO, Utilities, FM holds accountability for ensuring all sourcing projects adhere to Takeda's guidelines, the Global Engineering, and Global Procurement Policy. Sourcing activities must be meticulously conducted and well-documented using designated Takeda tools. Ensure projects are conducted at the highest quality, within time and budget.

The role is expected to exemplify a commitment to compliance and ethical business practices, while also embodying traits of innovation and continuous improvement. Proficiency in Category Management, coupled with adept collaboration and stakeholder management skills, are crucial for achieving Takeda's financial and qualitative objectives.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Consolidate supplier, market, category, and internal business data to develop and implement long-term strategies.
  • Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers for key strategic projects.
  • Oversee ongoing CAPEX, MRO, Utilities, and FM projects, optimizing approval processes as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Global Engineering team to improve demand estimates and specifications.
  • Aggregate category data for top-down target setting, fostering a continuous improvement approach.
  • Lead the risk management activities.
  • Create, lead, and coach cross functional global teams through the various stages of the Capital Procurement Process and Category Management and ensure the resources, information and tools are in place for project execution throughout the category, providing expert support and guidance where required.
  • Identify budget needs to support the annual operating activities of the category team.
  • Work with internal functions to ensure a clear approach is in place to facilitate the simple and effective application of any contracts developed in the category area to be implemented at a global, regional and local level (as needed) including both terms and conditions and sign off procedures

REQUIRED EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent educational qualification.
  • Minimum of 10 years of strategic and operational procurement experience, preferably within a regulated industry.
  • People management experience with proven track record of leading global cross-functional project teams and delivering material value across complex categories.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous and complex environments, demonstrating adaptability and resilience.
  • Experience in negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management.
  • Strong change management and process improvement skills.
  • Proficiency in project and risk management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Strategic Relationship Management principles and techniques.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Post-graduate business-related qualification, such as an MBA.
  • International strategic sourcing experience.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or management consulting
