MISSIONS AND RESPONSABILITIES:

The missions of the F1 Data Engineer revolve around designing, building and deploying capabilities that let users access, visualise and interact with data to meet their analytical needs, without requiring them to master querying languages, statistical modelling or the command line. To accomplish this, the Data Engineer is involved in all stages of the product life cycle: idea generation, user interviews, planning, design, prototyping, execution, shipping and iteration.

Data Collection and Integration

  • Develop bespoke tools to acquire or extract heterogeneous data from a growing number of sources, including but not limited to car telemetry, audio, video, declaration forms, document libraries and test benches.
  • Ensure the high availability and reliability of our data platform, implementing monitoring, data quality checks and automation wherever possible.
  • Participate in the development of an FIA data structure aimed at unifying data access across all FIA championships.
  • Liaise with other departments inside the organisation to homogenise data collection, storage and access protocols.

Data Preprocessing and Reporting

  • Develop and deploy a data augmentation platform aimed at capitalising simulation results and machine learning data analytics.
  • Build upon the current suite of FIA data analysis tools to scrutinise heterogeneous data, generate insights more effectively and enable further activities.

PROFILE:

  • Bachelor or master's degree or equivalent expert level in computer science or software engineering.
  • Significant experience developing clean and efficient software in Python, C# and/or Java.
  • Significant experience with SQL and non-SQL databases. Collection and storage experience setting up and maintaining data-warehousing and data lake solutions.
  • Experience with message broker and event streaming technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc).
  • Experience with microservice architectures, including containerisation and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with reporting tools such as PowerBI or custom-made tools that allow stakeholders to consult data in a user-friendly environment.
  • Experience with cloud technologies is not required but highly appreciated.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn continuously and work autonomously.
  • Comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives and fast iteration with users.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within teams of technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Native or fluent English speaker (proficiency in other European languages would be a plus).
