Your responsibilities
You will be part of the English Language Services team in the Communications Office. Your main responsibilities will include translating and proofreading key texts produced by the Communications Office and the university's core administration, coordinating and revising translations from external suppliers, and providing language and translation advisory services to members of the university. You will also manage the university's terminology database and keep it up to date. In addition, you will stay abreast of ongoing developments in MT and generative AI for translation, and provide advice and support to university staff on using such tools. To achieve these goals, you are expected to establish and/or maintain effective channels of communication with the various offices at UZH.
Your profile
Candidates must have English as their native language and outstanding German-to-English translation skills. You must hold a university degree in translation, linguistics or a related subject and have excellent written and oral German skills as well as a sound understanding of the structures, processes and terminology of academia and tertiary education in Switzerland. Furthermore, candidates are expected to have a strong interest in and firm grasp of translation technologies (e.g. CAT tools, NMT). Previous work experience in project management and bilingual terminology management, preferably in an academic environment, are an asset. Excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team are a must.
