The Process Development team within Blood Gas & Electrolyte (BG&E) Engineering is supporting the manufacturing processes and the quality control of BG&E Sensors and Reagents used in blood gas systems . We are responsible for developing process improvements which lead to better product quality or reduced costs.

We are looking for a highly motivated Intern for the Process Development team within BG&E Sensors. In this role you will mainly support a transfer and capacity extension project for sensor manufacturing. The project involves defining manufacturing processes through experiments on production equipment. As an Intern, you will directly contribute to the process development, process transfer and method evaluation of in-process controls. Therefore, you will get the opportunity to have a direct impact on process and product improvements.

Your main tasks would include:

  • Analyze production process and/or experimental data with classical statistics and machine learning

  • Build proof-of-concept machine learning-based projects using imaging data

  • Support production with MSA and shopfloor analysis experiments

  • Support through exploratory data analysis of multiple data types

  • Report results and conclusions to the project team

  • Create ideas for process improvements

Ideally, you fulfill the following criteria:

  • Bachelor degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Production and Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or related fields (or a technical apprenticeship with a Bachelor degree ongoing)

  • Good programming skills in Python

  • Statistical data analysis skills

  • First experience in machine learning, preferred in computer vision

  • You are interested in new technologies and manufacturing processes

  • Able to work independently

  • You want to have an impact and prefer to work in a dynamic environment

  • Proactive team player who easily connects with people having different backgrounds

  • Fluent in both, German and English (spoken and written)

Start date: April-July 2024

Workload: 100%

Duration: 6 -12 months

Please note that due to work permit reasons, NON-EU/-EFTA nationals need to provide a confirmation by their university stating that an internship is mandatory for their studies.
