This role, Head of Privacy, Digital Ethics & Compliance EUCAN, is designed for a leader who excels in setting strategic direction and fostering a culture of accountability and innovation. Your mission will be to ensure Takeda's activities not only comply with privacy, data protection, and AI governance regulations but also adhere to our high ethical standards, thus maintaining our leadership in ethical biopharmaceutical innovation. Through your leadership, you will empower your team to navigate the complexities of digital ethics and compliance with confidence, promoting a proactive and inclusive approach to compliance and ethical decision-making.

Join us in this pivotal role, where you will champion the development and implementation of best-in-class digital ethics and compliance standards. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about shaping the future of health, skilled in strategic oversight, and capable of inspiring a team to achieve excellence in a dynamic and evolving landscape.

Ready to embark on an exciting career journey? Join us in our office location in Zurich, Switzerland and enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid working arrangement, blending the best of both worlds; office collaboration and the comfort of working from home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performance Leadership and Empowerment: Spearhead the development and implementation of clear, achievable KPIs tailored to enhance the efficacy and efficiency of Digital Ethics & Compliance Officers across the EUCAN region. This role is about fostering a culture of excellence, where timely and accurate completion of privacy, data protection, and AI governance tasks is a shared responsibility. Provide guidance, support, and resources to enable Digital Ethics & Compliance Officers to meet their objectives, driving the team towards collective success.

  • Collaborative Compliance Excellence: Foster a collaborative environment where privacy, data protection, and AI governance practices across EUCAN are continuously reviewed and enhanced to meet not just the local and global regulatory requirements but also to embody Takeda’s high ethical standards. Encourage a proactive stance on compliance, where Digital Ethics & Compliance Officers feel supported in their efforts to align with both the letter and the spirit of the law.

  • Growth Mindset: Serve as a catalyst for growth and excellence, offering strategic direction and robust support to Digital Ethics & Compliance Officers. Facilitate the identification of professional development opportunities and foster a culture where continuous learning and capability enhancement are valued. Empower team members to set and achieve ambitious performance targets.

  • Inclusive Stakeholder Collaboration: Play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of open communication and alignment between Digital Ethics & Compliance Officers, cross-functional partners, and senior leadership. By encouraging collaborative dialogue and shared understanding, you will ensure that privacy, data protection, and AI governance-related initiatives are pursued with a unified vision and purpose.

  • Innovative Process Leadership: Champion the continuous improvement of privacy, data protection, and AI governance practices and processes with a spirit of innovation and foresight. Encourage a team environment where innovative ideas are welcomed and explored, ensuring that Takeda not only adheres to current best practices but also leads in the development of future standards for ethical innovation.

  • Proactive Risk Management: Lead a forward-thinking approach to risk management where digital initiatives, especially those involving AI, are proactively assessed for digital risks. Empower Digital Ethics & Compliance Officers to identify and implement effective mitigations, fostering a culture of anticipation and preparedness rather than reaction.

Your Profile:

  • Specialization or certifications in data protection, privacy law, AI regulations, or digital ethics are highly desirable.

  • At least 6-years of post-qualification experience.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams towards success.

  • Experience in project management, with a knack for implementing efficient processes and driving operational excellence.

  • Proven, comprehensive expertise in data protection and privacy laws, and either experience or a strong eagerness to delve into AI governance.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions and with diverse teams in a complex, global organization.

  • Strategic mindset, capable of seeing the bigger picture and driving change.
