We are seeking a customer-oriented, well organized, and experienced scientific search and information specialist with a background in medicine or life science to support users across the company to cope with an increasingly complex wealth of bio-medical and drug-related information. The search specialist uses subject and deep knowledge of bibliographic databases and other information resources to find pertinent literature and information for colleagues and provides support in using available knowledge sources.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide on-demand expert-level literature and scientific information searches to departments across the company (e.g. Drug Discovery, Clinical Development, Drug Safety, Medical Information, etc.)
- Translate user's information needs into database searches and create user-friendly output of search results
- Support Drug Safety and Regulatory departments with literature searches for periodic and developmental safety update reports, submissions, or answers to queries by authorities
- Run weekly or monthly literature alerts on topics relevant to the company. Add, review and revise alerts and search strategies as needed
- Maintain a repository of Idorsia-specific search strategies and building blocks for searches
- Share knowledge and support users in finding and using relevant information resources
- Provide first-level training, also with an eye on increasing user's information literacy
- Serve as expert of controlled vocabularies, thesauri and ontologies in the bio-medical area
- Eager to master, keep up-to-date with, and appraise new information resources
- Serve as vacation backup for document delivery services of the Knowledge Center team
Candidate's Requirements
- MSc or higher in a medical or life science discipline
- Several years of experience in expert-level literature searching and information retrieval
- Deep knowledge of databases in the medical and life sciences fields, incl. thesauri / controlled vocabularies
- Experience with text mining or artificial intelligence is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written English skills
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines without compromising quality
- Ability to pay attention to detail
- Strong knowledge of MS Office (Excel), bibliographic software (Endnote) as well as good knowledge of a text editor (e.g. Notepad++, incl. regular expressions/GREP) to compare, deduplicate and format (large lists of) search results
- Self motivated learner while eager to support colleagues
