The Position

Intern for Strategic Workforce Planning - Skills, Data & Technology

This role is based in the Integrated Workforce Strategies Team within the People & Culture organization, which enables the business to achieve its ambitious goals and to anticipate & adapt to the rapidly changing environment. To ensure the future readiness of our workforce and data-driven & strategic workforce decisions, we are implementing a Strategic Workforce Planning framework and data-driven, skills-based workforce planning solutions. Thereby, we focus not only on our internal workforce, but also unlock the strategic potential of our total workforce towards a total workforce view. Shaping new planning solutions, creating insights and automating processes as well as working with cross-functional partners offers you great learning opportunities.

The Opportunity:

For a 6 months period, your main focus as an intern in the Workforce Optimization team will be learning about Total Workforce Management and Strategic Workforce Planning at Roche and about creating insights & a technology framework at global level. You are contributing to the execution of various products and projects in the field of workforce strategies and planning.

You will analyze data, prepare presentations and drive data-driven recommendations for decision making. You also contribute to the automation of our data collection, maintenance and analysis and driving the implementation of innovative efficiencies in our data & insights world. You closely collaborate with the experts in the field in an agile working environment characterized by empowerment, open communication and willingness to test new ideas.

Who you are:

  • You are in your Bachelor or Master studies in the field of economics, business administration, HR Management, STEM subjects or similar fields

  • You have a passion for data science and technology

  • You can address complex problems and develop effective solutions

  • You have expertise in Office or Google Suite, esp. Excel or GoogleSheets, Data analysis, programming languages like R or Python and familiarity with packages like CRAN, dplyr and HuggingFace. Experience with Appscript or Javascript would be a plus.

  • You are motivated to work independently in a collaborative and dynamic environment and can adapt to different needs

  • You have a can-do attitude and growth mindset

  • You are characterized by a high level of social competence and are able to efficiently communicate in English

Skills Needed:

  • Excel/Google Sheet andPowerPoint /Google Slide are required

  • R or Python knowledge is a must

  • Appscript or Javascript skills are an advantage

  • Being able to leverage packages like CRAN, dplyr, HuggingFace and similar

  • Data analysisand data interpretation skills

  • Agileapproach and creative thinking

General information:

  • Start date: September or October 2024

  • Work location: Located at a Roche office, within an EU time zone

  • Workload: 40 hours/week (100%)

  • Duration: 6 months
